Raccoons sometimes referred to as “masked bandits”, are often admired for their intelligence and their ingenuity. But these traits also make them quite destructive to homes and businesses. Because of their size, intelligence and adaptability they should be dealt with very carefully. Raccoons are A pest and will eat almost anything, they are true omnivores
Raccoons most often like to make dens in crawlspaces, chimneys, roofs, and attics, especially over bedrooms where it tends to be quieter. They are primarily nocturnal (i.e. active at night), making them quite a nuisance when homeowners are trying to sleep. Raccoons have very manipulative paws, which means they can open jars, garbage cans, and even door latches. They are also quite strong and will rip up shingles, soffit, flashings, and aluminum.
Raccoons are between 24 to 41 inches in length. They weigh between 8 to 25 pounds. They breed in February with young born in late April and May, with a 3-4 young per litter.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Raccoons are able to gain entry through just about any common building material (e.g. wood, soffit, aluminum flashing, shingles, attic, and roof vents. Raccoons emit a large number of vocalizations and prefer to build dens in warm, dry locations such as attics or crawlspaces.
They are very active animals and will scurry around attics, chimneys, and roofs, usually at night. Feces and fur are often found at the entry point and there can be a strong odor detected. Raccoons tend to leave feces piles on roofs and their elongated rear foot leaves a distinctive footprint.
RACCOON CONTROL
The most effective method is to remove all the raccoons and completely seal the entire building from further entry. If there are unweaned young present they need to be removed from the nesting site as soon as possible after the female is captured. If raccoons are living in a crawlspace or attic the amount of damage they can cause to insulation and ductwork can be quite severe. If the damage is accessible, then your property insurance may cover the cost of the damage repair and raccoon removal.

Highly recommend this group!!! Within 24 hours of my “something stinks” panic call, one of the techs, Ronnie, was at our place taking care of the animals that found their final resting place in our vents… and patched it up so we wouldn’t have this happen again.
